Lifeline

If you are in a qualifying household, you may be able to reduce your bill by getting a Lifeline benefit on your home phone or internet service.

*Lifeline is a government assistance program. Lifeline provides discounts on monthly telephone (wireline or wireless) or broadband (Internet) service for eligible consumers. Federal rules prohibit eligible low-income consumers from receiving more than ONE Lifeline service per household. Additionally, only ONE Lifeline service may be obtained per household. "Household" is defined as any individual or group of individuals who live together at the same address as one economic unit. Lifeline support is available to eligible low-income consumers living in group living facilities, ex. assisted living homes, apartments, senior living homes, etc.

Do I qualify for the Lifeline program?

Or you may be eligible for a Lifeline benefit by participating in one of the following government programs:

• Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as Food Stamps
• Medicaid
• Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
• Federal Public Housing Assistance (FPHA)
• Veterans Pension and Survivors Benefit
• Tribal Programs (and live on federally recognized Tribal lands)

The Lifeline discount is only available in the following states and only in specific areas:

• Georgia (only in Hawkinsville)
• South Carolina (Only in Hilton Head, Hardeeville, and Bluffton)

Qualifying customers will need to follow all applicable Lifeline requirements to maintain their Lifeline benefit including recertifying eligibility when requested.
